5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality, Very Quiet. Wireless receiver is TINY!, August 25, 2010
By
This review is from: Logitech Wireless Wave Combo Mk550 With Keyboard and Laser Mouse (920-002555) (Personal Computers)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I am very impressed with this product. I have used many, many keyboards and wireless mice over the years and this keyboard / mouse combo really are excellent. They both look and feel high quality with a soft rubberized coating on the mouse and the keyboard wrist wrest.

I have been using a Microsoft Natural keyboard 4000 for the ergonomics and convenience buttons. This Logitech keyboard is MUCH, MUCH quieter and the spacebar is much easier to press. In addition, I think that the convenience buttons (like the volume control, media center launcher, etc) are much easier to see and use on this Logitech Keyboard than the Microsoft Natural keyboard. I will say that I occasionally thought that I noticed a bit of a delay with the keys I typed not showing up on the screen instantly. I'm not sure if I can blame that on the keyboard or not, but whatever the case it wasn't something that caused me enough of a problem to knock a star off the rating. Since I'm now using this keyboard... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Best for office workers and/or those who do a LOT of writing. [Plus a comparison with the half-priced MK320], August 30, 2010

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This is certainly a well made unit, and its ergonomic "wave" form really is pleasant when doing hours of writing, as is its rubbery, vaguely faux-leather rest for the heel of the hands. Having also just got the new Logitceh MK 320, I'd have to say it delivers very similar quality in most ways to this, and is probably a better wireless value for the average user. If you write all day, however, the MK 550 might have your name on it.

Like the 320, this is a breeze to set up: pull out the tabs under the pre-installed batteries, plug in the (super small) usb wireless receiver, and off you go. That's nice. (The included cd is for customizing some of the function keys and won't be used by many is my guess.)

The first thing you notice about this keyboard is how large it is, almost 50% bigger than the average wireless kb. Most of that room is used by the palm rest. If I was a perfect touch typist, this might be the ultimate kb; it seems to be designed with the pro typist... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable with just the right spring to the keys, August 27, 2010

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This keyboard and mouse were drop dead easy to setup and use. Pull the sticker off the USB transmitter and plug it in to a USB slot. Pull out the tab keeping the battery from making contact on the bottom of the keyboard and the bottom of the mouse and you are up and running. I didn't even both with unplugging the wired keyboard and mouse. I'm using a Lenovo W500 Thinkpad running Windows XP and everything worked without a hitch. I had expected to have to install a driver or something but nope.

How does it work? I have not detected any kind of lag from either the keyboard nor the mouse. The mouse moves smoothly over my desktop and is contoured to fit my somewhat largish hands (large for a woman - about the size of an average to small man's hand). The wheel works fine in scrolling the windows up and down and I like the forward and back buttons on the side of the mouse. The groove where your thumb rests is lined with a nonslip padding. If you are left handed, you can... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Great media centre addition, December 11, 2007

I bought this product as a keyboard/mouse addition to my mac mini powered media centre. The graphite keyboard looks really nice and is also pretty compact (especialy when you disconnect the numeric keypad). The slim profile of the mouse is also ideal for my setup. The fact that it works well with the mac especially with some of the media keys is an added bonus. The range is good enough for me but then there isn't much of a distance from the couch to the mac mini/tv. I also like the keyboard layout which keeps both mac and pc users happy (especially with the positioning of the command and windows keys with respect to ctrl and alt)

Some of the caveats:
1) I am having trouble with the mouse on some surfaces - for example my couch. The microsoft intellimouse performed better.
2) I have permanently disconnected the numeric keypad. But the keypad does not lock into the main keyboard very strongly. It does have a magnetic link and thus it can lock in - However the bond... Read more

This keyboard is great. For years I have been looking for a keyboard that would take up minimum space on my desk. I don't ever use a number pad, and don't use all the bells and whistles buttons that most keyboards have. With this one, I just don't attach the number pad and that gives it a small footprint and locates the mouse close to the keyboard. It's all very slick looking, has a nice weight that keeps it in place, and does not have the clickety clack feel or sound that other keyboards have. The mouse was a nice surprise, also with just that right feel and weight, and has a little trackball for scrolling that is easy to control. My computer is located in a compartment inside my desk, and the compact USB receiver sometimes did not connect. My Dell flat panel monitor has two USB connectors on the side, so I moved it there and it's fine. If I wanted to use the receiver installed inside the desk compartment, which I might still decide to do, I think I would try using a USB extension... Read more

This review is from: Kensington SlimBlade Media Notebook Set with Wireless Keyboard, Laser Mouse, and Numeric Keypad (Graphite) K72279US (Personal Computers)
I don't usually write product reviews but this product has far exceeded my expectations and deserves a few minutes of my time. I bought this because I wanted a small, compact keyboard I could haul around and would fit in my laptop bag. This product caught my eye and the reviews were very positive.

This product is very solid with a metallic titanium color finish. It is indeed small and has a nice, although non-adjustable, tilt to it. The keys are outstanding, with just the right feedback and click for me. There are no extra, read unnecessary, keys.

I took it out of the box, put in the batteries and plugged it in. I looked everywhere for the USB key (they call it a "Dongle"). I thought they had forgotten to include it but it was neatly tucked into its travel position inside the mouse battery box. Don't send the unit back until you look there first!!

The mouse is an odd shape but surprisingly comfortable and I have very big hands. The laser is... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Innovative, configurable and smooooove..., July 20, 2010
If I don't cover one of the coolest features of this mouse first, I'll forget:
- The thumb shelf changes the game. I had no idea how much drag my thumb would provide and how it interfered with the smooth control of my games. The thumb shelf on the R.A.T. 7 is the perfect size to hold my fat thumb and keep it out of the way.

Continuing on - this will be the first mouse to replace my almost-perfect Logitech from 1999. The Logitech was heavy, had a nice, tactile wheel, moved very smoothly and had a responsive, easy-to-clean mouseball. Yeah, no optics for me.

The R.A.T. 7 starts light and is adjustable up to HEAVY. The solid chunk of stamped aluminum that acts as the frame peeks out from all the adjustable nooks and crannies and holds all the assemblies tightly. The feet glide smoother than any other mouse I've used. The adjustable palm rest is perfect, even if you like a shorter grip. The pinkie shelf was a nice addition, too, until I found that it... 5.0 out of 5 stars Takes some adjusting and getting used to, but great mouse., July 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After following this mouse on the web and seeing it's weirdness on Youtube and the Cyborg site. I have to say that I'm more than surprised. Ignore what most people are saying about the sensor, I've picked up the mouse a few times and with any mouse it's going to move a little, even with my G9 and crappy 5 dollar everyday usage mouse, re-aim you crappy players who like to complain and blame a mouse! I'm using a big mousepad, the metal one from Cyborg's site with dual side covering, and the dual DPI setting works great. Play tested it with Global Agenda for the past few hours and it feels great. The sniper button is adjustable to how fast or slow you want to make the DPI setting in comparable to your mouse DPI, other words, if your DPI setting for shooting without scope is set to 3000, but when you scope, you can adjust it at 50% (default) so it's down to 1500, then you can adjust more or less depending if you want the sniper mode to be faster or slower based on a percentage to your...
