5.0 out of 5 stars Best Mouse Ever, November 22, 2009

This is the upgraded version of the Razer DeathAdder. 3500 DPI instead of 1800 DPI. This is the main difference, although I believe the newer version has a gold plated USB connector and obviously different drivers for each model. Either way both models are identical in physical shape.

The arc of the mouse is by far the most comfortable I've ever used, in that it actually follows the curve of one's hand how it instinctively would grab a mouse. It is also a right handed mouse, sorry southpaws, which adds to the comfort and control of the mouse. I can't say I know what the mouse grip is made out of, but it is completely slip resistant and oil resistant/absorbent. The sides of the mouse are a hard plastic and between the teflon feet and light weight of the mouse there is almost no resistance to movement.

I upgraded from a Logitech Revolution wireless mouse and wireless mice, while convenient, can't compete with the accuracy and precision that a wired mouse... Read more

I was very hesitant to review this product. I had a horrible experience with the original death adder.

Let me start this review with a bit of history. I bought the original death adder back in 2007. After putting my hand on this mouse at the local brick and mortar, I fell in love. I am a palm mouser, and I wear large/xlarge gloves. So my hands are on the larger size. This mouse is probably the most comfortable mouse I've EVER tried...and trust me, I've tried a TON of mice. The shape steals a lot from the intellimouse from microsoft, but it is somehow a lot more comfortable. So given how much I loved how this mouse felt in my hand, I never thought that razer would fail me in the quality control department. After a couple of weeks, the original Death Adder started squeaking. So much so that it was unbearable. After about 1 month of moderate use, the mouse completely failed me. It stopped working. I took it apart thinking it may be something simple. Nope, it just... Read more

I like this mouse. It's stylish and pretty comfortable. I play a lot of fps and spend a lot of time on the computer in general. I have pretty big hands. I've found this mouse to be true to its claims on comfort and ergonomics. I can use it for long hours with no fatigue. The exception to this is my right ring and pinky finger pressed against the right side of the mouse can get sore after many hours of intense gaming. This may just be an issue with my personal grip style, I don't know. The software is easy to use and there is almost every setting you could ever want to adjust on a mouse available. However, it took me a long time to find the correct settings for my personal system and games (I use 1800 dpi, 500Hz polling rate, 7 sensitivity with a cloth pad). I find the default settings are far too sensitive and I doubt anyone will ever use the highest. You have to lift the mouse ~1 inch off the surface before it loses contact which took me a while to get used to.

There are... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed, April 26, 2010
Seeking the Best "WJR" (Deerfield Beach, Florida United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Targus Cord-Storing Optical Mouse AMU76US (Black with Gray) (Personal Computers)
This is a nice, little device that I bought from CompUSA. There are three things that I like about this unit:

1. The device is comfortable to use. It is neither too short nor too long for the hand. It fits my hand just right.

2. It has a retractable cord, and the USB connector can be stored underneath the unit (making for no loose, dangling wires). This is a convienent feature when I store it away between uses.

3. It doesn't need a battery, as it is a USB powered device. That means I never have to worry about it running out of power just when I need it the most.

I'm very satisfied with this product, and I would recomment it for the above reasons.

My husband, a programmer, uses this mouse at work. I teach online from home (the couch is my office, basically), and my cordless mouse kept falling off the lap desk that holds my laptop. So, he purchased this mouse for me. The mouse is comfortable to use. It is designed for both left- and right-hand users. The scroll wheel is sensitive (and without the typical click-sound when scrolling) to the right degree. I love the retractable cord; the length of the cord is adjustable. My husband has been using his at work for several years; all components still work well. Overall, I recommend this mouse as a comfortable, reliable mouse.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just a Bit Shy of Perfect, October 2, 2011

This review is from: Targus Cord-Storing Optical Mouse AMU76US (Black with Gray) (Personal Computers)
I've used this mouse for about a week now. It is just as expected; a portable USB mouse with a retractable cord. It is precise and works well with anything, even casual gaming. The retraction mechanism works almost every time. Sometimes it stops and I need to feed a little of the cord into the slot to get it to start retracting again. Other than that, it's comfortable and works as advertised.

This review is from: Microsoft Intellimouse Optical Mouse (Personal Computers)
like the title says, this mouse is a great value, sitting between the intellimouse explorer and intellimouse wheel. it fits my hand perfectly too, as it is not as big at the explorer.

fuctionwise, the tracking is unparalleled--the new intellieye scanning at 6,000 times per second makes the mouse virtually skip-free, unlike older optical mice. the 5 fully programmable buttons are awesome too. the inteiipoint software allows you to assign different functions to different buttons, in different programs! i even have a button that saves my document in microsoft word! it's really a brilliant invention.

my only gripe about this mouse is its weight. it is on the light side, and i hear the hollow cluck every time i pick it up when i'm playing a game. i've grown used to it by now, but it took a couple of weeks.

in short, i believe this is the perfect mouse for me. its optical eye works great, the buttons are ingenious, and the low price at amazon.com (...) make this mouse the best... Read more

This review is from: Microsoft Intellimouse Optical Mouse (Personal Computers)
I got this mouse as a gift and loved it as soon as I started using it. It definitely provides skip-free performance, has a great feel to it, has
the scroll wheel, and my new favorite thing - those programmable buttons!
At first I wasn't used to those programmable buttons and I'd accidentally press them getting unwanted results (like going back to the
previous web-page when pressing the left button, or going forward when pressing the right). But then I got so used to it and realized how helpful it was - so much so that I got another one for my work because I kept trying to press those buttons that didn't exist on my mouse at work!
There's definitely no going back to a mechanical mouse in this day and age after so many optical mouses (or is it mice!) are available.
But if you haven't used a mouse with programmable buttons before, I'm telling you - give it a try and you won't ever want to go back to
one that doesn't have them! And for the price, this one's a... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent feel all around, almost perfect, June 5, 2004
TestMagic Inc. (San Francisco, CA USA) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Microsoft Intellimouse Optical Mouse (Personal Computers)
I've tried all kinds of mice--corded and wireless; optical and ball; Logitech and Microsoft; high-end, low-end, and in-the-middle.

First, optical mice are the way to go. There's enough said about that, and the "ball" mouse will eventually go the way of the floppy drive. I've tried a few wireless mice by Microsoft, but they fall way short of their promises. You have to plug in a transmitter to the USB port to send the signal to the mouse, and this transmitter is the size of the mouse itself--you end up with twice the volume! Worse, I find I have to keep the mouse within two feet of the transmitter, meaning I have to keep two "mouse-sized" things on my desk. Also, with wireless mice, responsiveness decreases as the batteries die--I have to hold down the right-click button relatively long to click, which is a pain.

I also like the scroll wheel on this mouse--it provides a nice tactile "click" for every increment; some of the Microsoft wireless mice don't... Read more
