I love this mouse. It fits my medium small hand comfortably and is great on battery life so far. It's not overly responsive and jerky like lasers seem to be. This one gives me very smooth performance.

It has a "shut off" tab under the mouse belly, but if you slide the USB key into it, it also shuts it off. If you hibernate it shuts off, but immediately turns back on when your computer does. I like the rubberized finger and palm areas much better than my Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000. The only drawback is that this wireless notebook unit doesnt have thumb button and that's why I ended up buying the Microsoft 6000. I miss that particular feature. Funny think is though, I seem to use the Kensington 90% of the time anyway. The M6000 is lighter since it only uses 1 battery, but it chews through them like crazy, and my hand just doesnt feel comfortable in the curved finger slots and palm rest, the grip area seem slippery, and since it's a laser, is a little to... I purchased this mouse for my MacBook I recently bought and I couldn't be more happier with it. It's very comfortable and responsive. I just took it out the package, inserted the included batteries, plugged in the USB receiver, and was using it in seconds! I also like the feature of sliding the USB receiver onto the base of the mouse when I'm not using it since it activates a switch that turns the mouse off to preserve battery life. This also makes it very efficient for traveling since I don't have to hunt for the mouse and the USB receiver separately - they're hooked together. Very nice! Also, when I remove the USB receiver...the mouse automatically comes on & is ready for use.

So, I highly recommend this peripheral if you're looking for a portable mouse for your notebook.

4.0 out of 5 stars This mouse helped heal my Repetitive Strain Injury, February 25, 2010

I put off writing this review until I had adequate time to use this mouse in all different situations. I purchased this mouse in October 2009. I had developed a very painful Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)in my right hand and arm from heavy mouse use; in particular the constant use of the roller wheel and the click-click-clicking of the mouse buttons. I am a medical librarian and use my computer all day for long stretches of time. However, I don't play video games though that require much more clicking than office work.

I considered and tested quite a few "ergonomic" mice. Most of them merely changed the user's hand position, but still required clicking buttons with the index and middle fingers.

I am mostly pleased with the mouse, and I will address specific features, both good and bad, in hopes that this will help someone else with a similar condition.

Comfort - 5 stars - Compared to other ergonomic mice I have tried this one is very comfortable for... Read more

I love my regular 3M wired ergonomic mouse (3M Ergonomic Mouse SMALL/MEDIUM), but because it's a bit of a pain to use a mouse that is tethered to the computer, I bought this wireless version and gave it a whirl. On the positive side, the wireless ergonomic mouse itself is a joy to use -- comfy in the hand, good quality, everything you'd expect from 3M. But the mouse comes with a fatal flaw. The mouse and the computer dongle -- the receiver that plugs into your computer -- just don't communicate very well. Actually, they communicate rather poorly. They keep dropping events, at the rate of several each second. This means that you'll be moving the cursor across the screen, and suddenly the cursor will freeze; or you'll try clicking the mouse button, and nothing will happen. It is truly frustrating to try to use a mouse that works, or... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Great feel but weak parts, April 9, 2009
KattMarl "San Diego PC Medic" (San Diego, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 3M Wireless Ergonomic Mouse, Large Size, Black (Personal Computers)
This 3M product is GREAT in concept. The handle is comfortable, the movement crisp, and the reality is - it virtually eliminated my wrist pain from using a mouse all day long. The only 2 problems are - 1. there's no "roller" wheel for scrolling up/down on web pages - a virtual necessity in today's web world. 2. the mouse button on top is built too weakly. I only had the product for a few weeks and I was very gentle with my clicking all day. One day the clicking button broke. There is no way to "fix" it as the tiny little plastic tab holding it in was less than .5mm thick! No wonder it broke! This product is worth the money, but they need to redesign the button and include a roller option for the index finger.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST for graphic arts, April 11, 2005

This review is from: Wacom Intuos3 4x5 Pen Tablet, PTZ430 (Personal Computers)
I'll start by saying that I am a programmer/web designer/graphic artist/student. I have been designing graphics and web applications for years... with a MOUSE. Frustrated with the innacuracy of a mouse (even optical ones have a tendancy to jump around), I finally decided to give the tablet a try when someone reccomended the Wacom products to me.

I will NEVER go back! Let me explain why:

1) Being a USB device I can install the drivers on any machine I use and just plug it in and use it when I need it (which allows me to use it on the machines at school). Also, being a USB device it does not interfere with use of a PS2 mouse, so I can go between the tablet pen and mouse and my usual mouse without issue.

2) Much more accurate when drawing, pointing, ... anything! I had thought about getting a larger tablet, or a less expensive one, but I feel that this is the perfect match. With over 5000 lpi, it's extremely accurate despite the size.

3) Tons... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, October 21, 2004

Erica S. (East Coast USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wacom Intuos3 4x5 Pen Tablet, PTZ430 (Personal Computers)
I owned the Intous2 Platinum 6x8 tablet first and didn't use it much because I have a small work area but it is great. Now I own this Intous3 4x5 tablet and it actually got better. The touch strip and keys are much better and the different pen nibs are great. I thought it may be too small but its not. I draw and paint with it & it works out well. If I had the space, I'd get the bigger ones but since I really don't have any complaints. Bigger would be nice but its definitely not needed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not left-handed compatible!, January 11, 2006
By
Pierrick Verilhac (Loveland, CO USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Wacom Intuos3 4x5 Pen Tablet, PTZ430 (Personal Computers)
Let's start with the bad. I was stupid enough not to realize the buttons were placed on the left side of the tablet. I am a left-handed person, and everytime I tried to use the tablet, my wrist would touch the zoom strip and mess up my display (not to mention you just can't use the custom buttons). I wrote to Wacom's tech support to ask them if they made a left-handed version of their tablet, and they don't. They just advised me to flip the tablet 180 degrees, and change the settings to match "flipped horizontal". It works, but there's no more support for your wrist (since flipping the tablet brings the harsh, sharp edge that used to be at the top right under your wrist), and it's not comfortable at all when you need to work in the lower portion of the screen. I decided to return the tablet and get the 6"x8" version, that has buttons on both sides.

Now the good: this is a must-have for work with masks in Photoshop. The pen pressure is just something you CAN'T reproduce with... Read more
