Not really much to screw up on it. It is better than the Magic Wand by Twelve South, because of its low profile look. You can't even tell it's there unless you turn it over. It also allows for the Magic Trackpad to click, whereas on the Magic Wand you can only use the tap to click function. The device is simple, You have 6 magnets with double sided tape. You stick 3 on the magic connector and 3 on your Wireless Keyboard and Magic Trackpad. It was kind of difficult to line up the magnets properly, and the instructions weren't that helpful because of the low quality images. What I eventually did was to place the Magic Connector on a table and then place the Wireless Keyboard and Magic Trackpad upside down in front of it. I then aligned the magnets on the Magic Connector and The Wireless Keyboard and Magic Trackpad and slowly flipped them over on to the Magic Connector. It now works perfectly. There were very few options for connecting the keyboard and trackpad and I was skeptical this would live up to the price tag. While I still think it is a tad overpriced, it accomplishes its task in an elegant, simple, and functional manner.Essentially you place two small magnets on the back of your keyboard and one on the trackpad using double sided tape. The aluminum magic connector also has three magnets. Obviously the six magnets connect, creating a single unit. The keyboard or trackpad can be pulled away from the magic connector, providing access to change batteries or adjust the trackpad to the opposite side. The aluminum plate is angled, maintaining the natural angle of the trackpad and keyboard, and the click function of the trackpad is fully functional - even when the unit is sitting on your lap. It does work, but I don't feel like it is the best design. If it were just a tad bit larger in both directions, I think I would like it more.Expensive for what it is (a small sheet of aluminum with a single bend and 3 magnets), but unless you run a machine shop, you're probably not going to get it cheaper. |
